Procession of Angels: The Rainbow Connection

by Reverend Taharah Iman

I saw a double Rainbow the other day. It was one of those infrequent, Natural occurrences that puts awe somewhere deep within you. My Mother flew in the next day from Colorado, and while we were talking about her trip she said: “I saw a double rainbow yesterday!” Now, I have no clue how large Rainbows can be in range and in size, but I know within my heart, that we saw the same Rainbow. Defies all reason and seeming possibility doesn’t it?

Catch a Rainbow

I was once told that We as an LGBT family fly our Rainbow Flag without knowing how powerful we are as a community, and how much we change the world each time we fly it. Think for a moment, when you fly your Pride flag, what does it mean to you? What does it symbolize? I have yet to own a home where I can take a good ‘ol trip to the hardware store and buy a flag, but I’m waiting… I know that when I finally get the chance to hoist my flag of Pride, it will be for: love, world unity, freedom for children, and oneness of all life, free from limitations and hatred of any kind.

For me, when I think of the rainbow, I think Gay, I think Lesbian, yes. I also feel in my soul the same feeling I get when I see a rainbow in the sky. I feel expanded somehow, I feel lighter somehow, just by seeing all that beautiful color… together. It frees me.

A wise man once said: “There is no gay and there is no lesbian, there is just one rainbow, of which we are all a part.” Gay pride celebrations have ome to a close for this year, and in this country, but we can keep that feeling alive everyday. We embody that energy of free love everyday. Like the hippies, and the flower children of their day we, the Rainbow Children: Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, and Bisexual are here. We are here to change the world. We know that this is our mission for it shows throughout all of our ‘difficult’ life experiences. We know that we are here to shift a great paradigm.

Simply… we are here to teach the world, how to love.

One Love,

Reverend Taharah Iman
